Firstly we would like to thank the community that got behind this idea. We are humbled by the advocates and crowdfunders who shared our vision at the start and stuck by us as we got to work making it reality.
We are very proud and so thankful for the support, guidance and funds we have received from our funding partners both big and small.
All the hardworking people who have volunteered in so many different ways to help the building get open. You kept the momentum of the project going throughout and supported us to know it would be a valued asset for the community.
Without all of your support this project would not have been possible.
The complexity of sourcing funding for a project like this was always going to be one of our biggest challenges. That’s why we are grateful to the willingness of the following organisations to find ways to make it possible and support a patchwork of finance that we stitched together.
With your support we can build a future for Station South and achieve more positive outcomes for all.
Railway Heritage Trust, Railway Paths Limited, Architectural Heritage Fund, Key Fund, Power To Change, Sport England, Transport for Greater Manchester, Manchester City Council One Manchester, Great Places, Greggs Foundation, Transpennine Express, We Are Cycling UK.
A big thanks to the following businesses for going above and beyond to support us:
JMW Solicitors, Hill Dickinson Solicitors, Little Greene Paint Company, Agapanthus Interiors, Casa Ceramica, Jonathan Davidson Architects, ReShaped Landscape Architects, Cinns Ltd, Levenshulme Inspire CIC, Levenshulme Market CIC, Medlock FRB, Jody Hartley Photography, Manchester International Festival, Station Hop, Taste The Love, Neuron AV, Raleigh, Berkman Wines Manchester Flower Show,Touchwood,
And to the organisations and stakeholders that vouched for us in the early daysBike Hive, Platt Fields Bike Hub, Cycling UK, Sustrans, GM Moving, Walk Ride GM, Lady Pedal, Manchester Bike Hire,
We still can’t quite believe 1162 amazing individuals took a punt on the idea of Station South and had the patience to let us get through an epic project one reveal at a time. Huge thanks to Gareth Taylor for producing the initial Crowdfunder video from which the project set sail.
Here it is one more time for giggles!
Same goes for a few special people who entrusted anonymous donations to support the building restoration. And a special mention goes to Jamie Whittaker who not only donated half of the proceeds of his epic ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End to our project, he was also instrumental in bringing the seed of the idea of Station South together and roping in Abigail Pound and Pauline Johnston to fire it up!
From day one people have put their time, effort and skills to support this journey. We have called on the expertise of our friends and neighbours to help navigate the legal, financial and planning challenges of this unwieldy restoration project.
To those of you that have cleaned, sanded, wallpapered, painted, tiled (for the first time!), shovelled, litter picked, helped out at events, leafleted and many more tasks too numerous to mention - we couldn’t have done it without you!
With our full time jobs, a few emotional setbacks, a couple of big life events and a global pandemic to add to the mix, we’re as pleased as you that we’re finally open! Thank you for sticking with and by all of us.
