Station South Cycling Club : Start Up Ride + Social

We are starting a road and gravel cycling club @ Station South!*

The goal is to make it friendly and inclusive, with a range of regular member led rides. We hope to accommodate riders from beginners to road cycling up to racers.

Explore the Cheshire lanes or tackle the Peaks. Rides of 2-4 hours at the weekend (25-50+ miles/40-80+km), with shorter off-road rides mid-week to avoid the traffic. No-one gets left behind!

Always with a social aspect after at Station South - meet for coffee / tea / drinks

To make this happen we need you!

Join us for our Start-up Ride + chats on Thursday 11th August. 6.15pm ride or join 8pm for discussion over drinks! (you only need to sign up for the ride on eventbrite, you can just come for the social and help bash some ideas around!)

This ride will be shorter than the standard club offering to accommodate discussion, and we will use an off-road route to facilitate chatting and introductions.

Ride Information

Meet : 6.15pm @ Station Green

Distance : around 15 miles / 25km

Speed : 12 - 15mph / 20-25kph

Time : 1.5 hours

Terrain : Short off-road social ride, with choice of either non-technical gravel or fully smooth asphalt

Suitable for : Confident cyclists who are interested in helping start up Station South CC

Discussion with discounted refreshments 8-9pm back at Station South

We will chat about :

• What the community would like to see from the Station South Cycle Club.

• How to organise the club and test/try club rides in the first few months of starting up.

• Assemble a pro-active group to help organise things like bookings /socials and routes

Meet people! Get into the countryside! Try new things!

Station South community rides are intended for the rider's maximum enjoyment potential! We want them to be as inclusive as possible - always free of charge + no one gets left behind.

Please make sure your bike is in a road worthy condition, you can always swing it by The Bike Station for a free safety check prior to the ride day and if needed, book it in for repairs - small and large! We will conduct a group basic bike health check before departing on our ride.

We recommend bringing layers, waterproofs, snacks + water to be prepared for the Greater Manchester elements.

We ride rain or shine. If weather is adverse, we will email all registered riders to let them know if circumstances change.
