Get To Know Your Bike! A beginners bike workshop at Station South by women for women with mechanics Ursula and Jo!

About this event

We have a series of free workshops lined up for women to develop new skills and confidence when it comes to keeping their bikes safe and feeling great. These workshops are suitable for complete beginners.

Over the 5 sessions we help you get to know your bike and cover the following lessons:

  • How to set your bike up for riding comfortably.
  • How to check it’s roadworthy
  • What the bike parts are, when to clean and when to lube
  • How to fix punctures, adjust brakes and tweak your gears.

Session 5: Understanding and Tweaking Gears

  • Different types of gear and how they work
  • Common problems with de-railleur gears
  • Hub gears – cable tension

Each session lasts 2 and a half hours and people work on their own bikes. If you don't have a bike get in touch.

Learning is in a small group (maximum 6 participants) and we are particularly welcoming women of Black and South East Asian heritage to participate in the lessons.

If you have any questions and would like to chat some more, please get in touch with Anna : community@stationsouth.co.uk

If you book on but for whatever reason cannot make it, we would appreciate notice so we can open the class back up to others waiting. Thank you.
