SUMMARY:Dream in a Dying Sun: An exhibition of paintings by Justin Robertson
DESCRIPTION:‘Visions from a holiday at the end of time’\nHurry\, hurry\, sign up for the cruise of a life time. Journey to the edge of time. Witness the last wild dance of a galaxy soon to be consumed by a hungry red giant. Meet the friendly particles in the crust of doomed planets circling dense dead stars. Enjoy their music. Taste their cuisine. Share in their fate. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the end of all things. Hurry\, hurry time is short. \n‘Dream in a Dying Sun’ is a new collection of paintings by artist\, author\, music producer\, and DJ Justin Robertson. Conceived as an exploration of the unseen world as it faces its last days in the sun. Justin continues his exploration of the occult dimensions. From the microscopic subatomic particle to the vastness of a splintering planet\, Justin imagines the secret life of a world that lies just out of sight. Concentrating on abstract paintings that combine free flowing movement with tight geometric shapes\, contrasting feelings of order and disorder. The work is bright and exuberant\, barely contained at times and yet with a strong unifying aesthetic. Dream in a Dying Sun is alive. \nJustin Robertson studied Philosophy at Manchester University before cutting his teeth in the nascent acid house scene where he became a respected DJ\, remixer and record producer working with the likes of Bjork\, New Order\, Noel Gallagher\, Andrew Weatherall and Erasure as well as producing music of his own as Lionrock and Deadstock 33s. Alongside his musical output he is also a published author\, his debut novel ‘The Tangle‘ came out in November 2021 to great critical acclaim and is now being adapted for the screen. His next book ‘The Trial of Jonah’ is due in 2025. \nNot just words and music then but also paint\, print\, and collage. Justin has produced several collections of work using a variety of mediums. Varied but always tightly curated and with a strong thematic thread that makes his work a vehicle for debate and discussion. His life as a visual artist has seen Justin exhibit his work all around the world including at the Tate Modern in London as part of the celebration of the work of Hilma Af Klint and Piet Mondrian. Justin also joined forces with the Tate and Verdant Brewery\, providing the artwork for their limited-edition beer which was made available during the exhibition. \nJustin lives and works in London.
