SUMMARY:Thursday Hills : Road Rides
DESCRIPTION:Weekly Hilly Road Rides : a.k.a Thursday Hills\nEach week\, we head out to find another cool climb to endure\, enjoy\, envelop and embrace.\nThursday Hills are a friendly way to explore the local elevation challenges\, with a different climb each week. \nWe’re usually out for around 2-3 hours and almost always head back to Station South for social drinks after [this is optional of course!]. We ride as a group until we reach the hills\, then every rider can take the ascent at their own pace until we re-group at the top\, pat each other on the back and be on our way as a group again. \n[Meet] >>  Station South Bike Benches \n[When] >>  5.50pm for a 6pm departure \n[Suitable for] >> Confident cyclists* used to riding with a group\, fast moving traffic and a speed of 22 – 28km/ph on the flat. \n[Bike required] >>  Road \n[What to bring] >>  Helmet\, water\, snacks\, clothes for the weather\, spare tube\, front + rear lights \n[Tickets] >>  All sign ups and detailed information for our various rides and cycling events are organised through Spond\, which is a platform we use solely for our ‘Pink’ rides. Pink events listed on the website are to hook more people in\, but please make sure you sign up via Spond to join in with these rides. Check out the colour definitions below if you’re new to Station South Cycling Club. \n* If this doesn’t sound like your cycling ability\, make sure to check out our other rides – we have Blue [chilled\, distance] or Yellow [learn\, progress\, play]. Feel free to follow those ride collections on EventBrite and you’ll get a notification when rides are listed. More of a Gravel rider? Head on over to one of our Whacky Wednesday rides\, heading out every week! \nJoin the all singing\, all colours SSCC fun\, shares and bike chats over on Facebook here! \n

SUMMARY:Solstice Rides
DESCRIPTION:Hooray for [one of] the longest days of the year! We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate – let’s ride into the [hopeful] sunset together with a range of rides to suit different bikes\, abilities and distance desires…\n>> Find the ride that suits you below and check out the corresponding tickets when you reserve your slots. \n>> Please bring helmets\, lights\, water\, snacks and layers. \n>> All rides are mixed genders\, but we are particularly welcoming new female riders to join our friendly club! \nAll rides are warmly welcomed back to Station South where last orders have been pushed back to 10.30pm to accommodate thirsty cyclists with much deserved post ride beverages! \nPlease note\, most of the Pink slots have been allocated on Spond – so if you’ve already booked there\, please leave these spaces for new riders! \nTICKETS : [CLICK] \nPink 1 | Chase the Sun\nThis is the Super Solstice hill climb challenge : can we ride Dovestones AND Holme Moss before sundown? We ride as a group apart from the hills\, where it’s a tussle between you\, the gradient and how hard your legs are screaming. We wait at the top and continue together\, before heading back to Station South to grab last orders. \n> Group Leader : Laurie \n> Meet : 5.50pm for a 6pm departure \n> Suitable for: Confident road cyclists\, used to the distance and speed advertised. Road bikes essential. \n> Distance / Terrain : 74km | 1258m of climbing| Roads with traffic and lots of hills! \n> Speed : 28kph+ on the flat \n> Route : [CLICK] \nPink 2 | Embrace the Sun\nThe chilled buddy of Pink 1 – we’re choosing to embrace\, rather than chase the sun on this one. We’ll be tackling the Brickworks to enjoy the light evening views but avoiding the tricky descents on the other side by riding back down the way we came and meandering back through the Cheshire countryside. \n> Group Leaders : Anna\, Becca \n> Meet : 5.50pm for a 6pm departure \n> Suitable for: Confident road cyclists\, used to the distance and speed advertised. Road bikes highly recommended. \n> Distance / Terrain : 53km | 549m of elevation | Roads with traffic and hills! \n> Speed : 22-24kph on the flat \n> Route [CLICK] \nPink 3 | Wobble the Sun\nThe bumpy\, gravelly\, chatty one\, led by the amazing Jack who helps to run the famous weekly gravel rides a.k.a Whacky Wednesdays. This ride will meander along our favourite trails to find the sunset up top before heading back to Station HQ. \n> Group Leader : Jack D \n> Meet : 5.50pm for a 6pm departure \n> Suitable for: Confident cyclists\, used to loose gravel\, bumpy paths and proximity to water. Gravel / MTB bikes highly recommended. \n> Distance / Terrain : 40km | 500m of climbing |Bumpy off road\, loose gravel\, hills. \n> Route : [CLICK] \nBlue > Pink | Savour the Sun\nAre you Pink curious but have felt more confident as a Blue rider? This could be the perfect doorway into what Pink is all about with this transitional ride led by the amazing Kirsty. The route and distance will skirt the Blue / Pink border and offer a slightly more challenging ride for Blues or a more chilled one for Pinks. \n> Group Leader : Kirsty \n> Meet : 5.50pm for a 6pm departure \n> Suitable for: Cyclists confident with the route and distance advertised. \n> Distance / Terrain : 30km | 232m of climbing |Mainly off road\, not too bumpy! \n> Route : [CLICK] \nThis route is trike and non-standard bike friendly\, please drop us a line if your bike fits that description so we can double check the suitability 🙂 \nBlue | Tickle the Sun with Bee Pedal Ready\nJoin our great friend Bee and her crew from Bee Pedal Ready for a super chilled\, super chatty and super smiley cycling cruise into the sunset. Expect a few stops to take in the nature around Chorlton and Sale waterparks and enjoy each other’s company along the way. \n> Group Leader : Belinda \n> Meet : 5.50pm for a 6pm departure \n> Suitable for: For those who have ridden before and happy with the advertised distance but want to expand their knowledge of the area. Most bikes will be fine on this route\, though we recommend a few gears. \n> Distance / Terrain : 18km | Mostly off road\, some loose gravel but mainly paved \n> Speed : Unpaced\, to suit the group’s ability. \n> Route: [CLICK] \n++++ \nIf for any reason your circumstances change and you can no longer join us\, please let us know and we can give your space to someone else. The size of the groups are extremely limited: if the ride is oversubscribed then priority will be given to those who have signed up. Thank you! \nOur rides and community projects are supported by Cycling UK who ask for consent to contact you after the event to ask you a few questions about your cycling habits. Please let Anna know before the ride if you don’t want to be contacted.\n\nAny questions\, drop Anna a note : community@stationsouth.co.uk \n++++ \nStation South Cycling Club formed in 2023 \nHow we ride: Our goal is to be a friendly and inclusive cycle club. To achieve this aim we expect all riders to: \n– Look out for each other \n– Be friendly and supportive to all riders \n– Be self-sufficient (e.g. bring appropriate spares and supplies) \n
