SUMMARY:Picnic Club: Live Americana Music
DESCRIPTION:Long-running acoustic/ Americana showcase\, now at its new location in Levenshulme\, 7.30pm\, adm free. The artistes: The Blazing Snowmen\, Dominic Carlton Jones\, The Dimestore Dirtbags\, and Picnic Area. Admission is free but this is a WE SHALL OVERCOME event and we ask you to bring groceries for the Levenshulme Foodbanks please if you can. Please note: children are allowed if accompanied by an adult. \nThe evening kicks off at 7.30pm with a set from our hosts Picnic Area. The Stockport-based band combine influences of country music\, 60s pop and punk attitude to produce a unique sound of their own. www.reverbnation.com/picnicarea \nThe Dimestore Dirtbags are a musical duo (Randy Horton and Sarah McConnell) performing alt-country and folk original and cover songs\, leaning to the ironic. Entertainment is guaranteed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmtnBommk3U \nDominic Carlton Jones plays an atmospheric\, semi-acoustic version of post-punk\, and was formerly signed to Manchester’s prestigious German Shepherd label (along with the likes of Poppycock and The Harveys). He was also a Salford Star award winner for an album of punk poetry in 2018. He and his band have released a number of albums which you can hear at https://dominiccarltonjones.bandcamp.com/ \nThe Blazing Snowmen have been described as “Alan Bennett backed by the Lancashire Doors” and are one of Manchester’s most interesting and longest established bands. Their observations of human foibles are expressed in their sardonic satirical lyrics\, often at their own expense\, as they reflect on expanding waistlines and recently-developed tastes for asparagus. They will also have a new album out any time shortly! The Blazing Snowmen
