SUMMARY:Picnic Club: Live Americana Music
DESCRIPTION:Long-running acoustic/ Americana showcase\, now at its new location in Levenshulme\, 7.30pm\, adm free. The artistes: From The Annexe\, Janie Britton\, Silver Train\, and Picnic Area. Admission is free but this is a WE SHALL OVERCOME event and we ask you to bring groceries for the Levenshulme Foodbanks please if you can. Please note: children are allowed if accompanied by an adult. \nThe evening kicks off at 7.30pm with a set from our hosts Picnic Area. The Stockport-based band combine influences of country music\, 60s pop and punk attitude to produce a unique sound of their own. www.reverbnation.com/picnicarea \nWe don’t usually put on cover version acts at the Picnic Club\, but Silver Train are a bit different – they play Americana covers\, and pop covers played in an Americana style. This Stockport duo are guaranteed to get you singing along! http://silvertrainduo.atwebpages.co \nJanie Britton is probably best known for fronting the melodic country rock outfit Skyeladder along with her late husband Paul. She has continued to be a prolific performer across the North West and is likely to play a mixture of numbers from the band’s repertoire along with new compositions. https://soundcloud.com/skye-ladder \nFrom The Annexe are a folk/ Americana collective formed by guitarist Graham Larkin from the much-missed Random Lurchers\, and featuring the wonderfully pure vocals of Karen Heywood. Their music sales go the charity Oasis Relief which provides safe water for people in Zambia. You can hear their excellent album “Life” at From The Annexe – Music

SUMMARY:Cyanotype Print Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Cyanotype is a very simple yet versatile printmaking technique and is one of the oldest alternative photography techniques. In this three-hour Manchester workshop\, you will create your own unique\, one-of-a-kind prints using the alternative photography process of cyanotype. \nTo create this effect\, we’ll lay photographic negatives printed onto acetate over sensitised paper\, and expose it to UV light revealing a completely one-of-a-kind print in a gorgeous cyan-blue colour. \nThis is a fantastic technique to learn as an introduction to printmaking. Our class is designed for complete beginners so they can get familiar with this rewarding craft and make something they love. Absolutely no previous experience in painting or drawing is necessary to enjoy this fascinating and relaxing workshop. \nTickets available HERE.

SUMMARY:Pint Of Science: Material Matters - Weaving together History\, Innovation & Sustainability in the Textiles Industry
DESCRIPTION:What we wear is woven into daily life — fashion reflects personal style\, cultural identity\, and broader societal trends. Yet\, despite the industry’s technological advances\, challenges around sizing\, sustainability\, and ethical production persist. Join us to trace our city’s rich textile heritage\, examine the urgent issues facing the industry today\, and look ahead to innovative body scanning technologies that are reshaping the future of fashion. \nTICKETS HERE \nPint of Science is a grassroots non-profit organisation that has grown astronomically over the few years since two people decided to share their research in the pub. Although our mission has expanded\, our core values remain the same: to provide a space for researchers and members of the public alike to come together\, be curious\, and chat about research in a relaxed environment outside of mysterious laboratories or daunting dark lecture theatres. We believe that everyone has a place at the table to discuss the research going on both on our doorsteps and far beyond. Our missions and visions are based around the people that matter most: our audience\, volunteers\, speakers\, and our wider research community.

SUMMARY:Neurowavy Meet-Up
DESCRIPTION:Neurowavy Monthly Meet-up \nAn informal meet-up for neurodivergent (wavy) folks \nWhen? \nThird Wednesday of every month. \nDrop in 7-9pm\nNo need to book\, just turn up! \nWho are we? \nWe are Timna (33) and Lauren (39). We connected after being diagnosed with ADHD and immediately saw the value in spending time with other like-minded (wavy) folk who just get it. \nWe wanted to make sure everybody had access to a safe space where they could truly be themselves\, something that didn’t seem to exist locally. \nIn June 2023 we established Neurowavy as a community for neurodivergent folks\, offering a monthly meet-up and ad-hoc events. \nWhat to expect? \nPut simply\, it’s an opportunity to spend a little time with some like-minded folk in a no-pressure setting. Super friendly\, super informal\, super relaxed. No expectations. \nPlease feel very welcome to come on your own – you won’t be the only one (but friends are more than welcome if you’d feel more comfortable that way). \nWhether you have been diagnosed or suspect you are neurodivergent (ADHD\, ASD\, etc.) this is a safe space for you! \nWhere to find us? \nFind us in the Viewing Platform (hang a left from the main bar). \nTheres a handy walkthrough on our Instagram @neurowavy if you’re new to Station South. \nIf it’s your first time attending one of our meet-ups\, we’ll have some tables reserved so just look out for our branding. Or feel free to let us know in advance that you’ll be popping down and we’ll keep an eye out for you. \nHow to contact us. \nInstagram @neurowavy \nDiscord Neurowavy \nE-mail neurowavy@gmail.com
