BBS Dig Deep returns to Station South for a daytime record fair, before Werkha takes on the live mix challenge!

‘Dig Deep’ is an event concept hosted by record label and mobile shop, Black Beacon Sound. The event welcomes some of the most sought after and upfront promoters, DJs, musicians, and producers, as well as friends and family of the label, along with favourite out-and-out music aficionados, and presents them with stacks of boss records from the BBS mobile record shop.
A guest act is then invited to take on the ‘Dig Deep’ mix series, challenged with completing a one-off live set under the conditions of: one hour to dig…one hour to prepare…and one hour to record a mix; playing in front of a live audience in the evening.
Earlier on in the day the BBS mobile record shop crates are open to the public [families and children also welcome until 20:30], where vinyl heads can dig themselves, and find label favourites, rarities, and second hand gems.

Werkha is the project of musician, producer, DJ, and curator, Tom Leah. Hailing from Manchester, his musical influences spread across a wide spectrum of genres; everything from jazz, folk, and classical, to house, funk, and beats. More still, a love of landscape and time spent in the UK wilderness supports his interest of sampling, sound design, and A/V concepts, most recently fuelling his exciting new project ‘Saturama’: a collaborative musically-led effort designed to illustrate the saturated beauty of a globally rare habitat; temperate rainforests.
His unique musical fusion of dance, instrumental, and soulful sounds, has garnered releases and features with distinguished imprints like Tru Thoughts, First Word, Brownswood, as well as airtime across Europe. And its his tangible approach to electronic music which has captured the minds and souls of friends and fans alike, often playing live with vibrant and honest character. His journey up to now will transpire for this special edition of our Dig Deep mix challenge, guided by a vast knowledge of music from past to present!
