The Beautiful Failures are a band showcasing the songs of Warren Gaskell, one of Manchester’s leading new country songwriters. Some years back, as a solo performer he was receiving glowing reviews from the likes of the old City Life magazine. Now he is back with a full band comprised of top notch musicians, featuring instrumentation such as banjo and pedal steel to give the band an authentic Americana sound. The Beautiful Failures are finishing off their debut album recording and already receiving country station airplay and rave reviews for their material.

Alt country renegades Picnic Area are the hosts of this long standing musical evening. They have already released 3 studio albums which have received very enthusiastic reviews from the likes of Americana UK. Their most recent album, 2018’s “No country for young men”, was largely an emotionally intense reflection on the social and political upheaval of the times. Never content to stand still musically, the Picnics are currently working on a new album which will be at least partly comprised of “escapist powerpop”!

Starry Lucy aka Lucy Nyland is probably best known as one of the former lead singers with Una Baines’s acclaimed postpunk outfit Poppycock. However, Lucy is also a very talented singer songwriter who is one of the regular performers at the wonderful Acoustic Cafe in Stretford. Her delicate nu-folk repertoire includes gems such as the nostalgic “Castles before the sea”.
