An exhibition celebrating Jill Woodward: cyclist, artist – activist, nurse & mother.
Jill Woodward (1948-2023) lived in Longsight in the 1970s and ‘80s and worked in this area as a nurse for much of her life. Recognised as a local nurse, her identity as an artist was less well-known. She left behind an extensive collection of work including cartoons, sketches, embroideries and placards, recording her involvement with local campaigns, such as the one to keep lollypop patrols, national ones like CND. She was involved in the solidarity group linking Manchester to Puerto Cabezas, in Nicaragua, and went there on a study tour in 1990.
Amongst this busy life she brought up her son Peter and, in her last years, supported her elderly mother.
Join us in the viewing platform for an exhibition of her work.
