There’s no denying it now, it is seemingly pitch black for most of the day – but hopefully the twinkly lights of Lev, alongside festive cheer are keeping you rolling as we head towards the end of a superbly busy year here in Station South’s community cycling scene!
In 2025, our beautiful cycling community showed up in hoards, with 3,165 participants joining us across 299 events, activities, and workshops.
From group rides for every ability to hands-on learning, every part of our programme grew thanks to your enthusiasm and support and of course – our incredible ride leaders, without which – none of our offers would be possible.
Yellow Rides welcomed 699 riders across 39 outings, Blue Rides brought together 427 riders over 24 journeys, and Pink Rides saw an incredible 1,237 participants across 178 rides!
Are you wondering what on earth all of the colours mean and most importantly, how you can ride with Station South Cycling Club [SSCC] – check out the pictures below!
The Bike Library supported 259 participants, helping more people access cycling than ever before. Our Fix Workshops continued empowering riders with 27 sessions and 217 participants gaining new skills. We also hosted 19 community events drawing 572 attendees, and our Balance Bike Borrow programme helped 130 young riders take their first joyful glides.
Now for a few photo highlights from the year ❤️
Word from the Workshop
What winter cycling tips has Mechanic Mary got brewing this month?
“Pick a decent day. Even in winter we get some lovely ones. Be willing to change your plans; there’s no need to slog through wind and rain just because you meant to go out. Keep an eye on the forecast and head out when conditions look half-decent.
Plan a coffee stop or take a flask. A full fat, double cream hot chocolate with extra marshmallows and a flake tastes even better when you’ve earned it. Wear waterproofs that breathe; you’ll warm up quickly, and you don’t want trapped heat turning into a chill.
Keep rides short. You don’t need an epic adventure to enjoy winter cycling – an hour on a local track can feel fantastic.
Consider protecting your bike with good mudguards. They may not look cool, but they’ll keep both you and your bike cleaner and drier.
Merry whatever you’re celebrating, and happy cycling.”
Please note, the workshop will be closed for Christmas from 18th December and re-open on 7th January. From then, we’ll be open Wednesdays and Saturdays 10-6pm.
With special thanks to We Are Cycling UK, Transport for Greater Manchester and MCR Active for your continued support this year, we adore working with you! And of course, to the SSCC Pink committee and ride leaders for your endless hours of route mapping, ride organisation, plotting meetings and infinite passion for empowering people to explore further and push that little bit harder on the pedals.
We can’t wait to cycle, learn, explore and collaborate with you in 2026 – but until then, please accept our warm wheeling, happy and healthy wishes to you for these final weeks of the year.
Regards from Anna + the Bike Station team ♡
