But first as ever, enjoy a short plunge into the variety of bike happenings that have been keeping everybody warm since we checked in last month.

Join the amazing Kirsti and Team Blue this spring to combat any old feelings of discontent when considering elevation on your bike! SSCC Blue are making hills fun, friendly and inclusive with this series of progressive rides throughout April.
Kirsti, Ride Leader and organiser of the series says :
“These are designed to get people more confident and even a bit hill happy! Each week, the route will get a little hillier, building up to one of our local classic climbs. Distances will range from 30–50 km with mixed terrain and varied elevation. There will be clear in the instructions for each ride. I will mark if they are mainly road or off-road, so you can gauge if you have an appropriate bike. These rides are suitable for mixed abilities. We’ll take every hill at your own pace, and we will always regroup at the top. The overall pace will be set at the steadier end of the group so that everyone can enjoy the ride and have fun together.”
Allow Rich Law, one of SSCC Pink’s regular Ride Leaders to lure you over to join us for the return of Thursday Hills – one of the clubs most popular and longest standing regular rides :
“[Soon it will be] April. Spring will have sprung, the clocks will change and at SSCC we will ride hills. For anyone new, Thursday Hills is our weekly ride taking in the nearby hills of Manchester. Usually about 50km, we ride at a social pace before attempting the hill of the week, ridden at our own pace and regroup at the top. Then social ride back to Station South for an optional drink. Come along to our first week where you get to choose the hills! This is designed to give you choice, most people will just do one. But more options for those who want to battle against gradients.”
Fancy something a bit bumpier? Or longer? Check out our other rides, all heading out weekly and just as friendly as the next one.
Join us for an extra special evening with Valerio Stuart : Local cyclist, SSCC ride leader and bikepacker, Valerio will share the story of his bikepacking trip through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco – complete with a special film screening and Q+A session. The event was originally planned for our Viewing Platform space but sold out in a few days, so we are spreading into the main hall – grab the bonus tickets whilst you still can!

What does the magnificent mechanic Mary have to say this month?
“We’re March ing through the year and Spring is in the air. For some of you this will mean getting your bikes out for Summer and for others, the amount of cycling stays the same, just less rain and wind.
The Bike Station is getting busy and we will soon have some news about emerging hire bikes. Don’t forget that you can borrow a balance bike for your little one while you’re enjoying the sunshine in the Station South garden. It’s a great alternative to stabilisers while they are learning.
And, of course, either Dangerous Dave or my bad self will be on hand Wednesday to Saturday 10-6 to answer all your bike related questions and repair those cycles.”
See you next time, cycle safe 🙂
Regards from Anna + the Bike Station team ♡
